UX WORK

I am extremely fond of user experience design because each project requires creative solutions to interesting problems at the interface between digital technologies and human users.

TimeBank Project

Design thinking

This project consisted in designing a user interface for a mobile TimeBank device that fits in one’s wallet. TimeBank allows people to exchange their time for another person’s time. Everyone’s time has equal value: my hour is worth as much as yours.

In this project I focussed on new user registration and on how users would search for “providing and requesting” services.

Firstly, I worked on signifiers that support accurate conceptual models for adding and subtracting time.

Secondly, I focussed on discoverability and learned how important it is to continuously test wireframes and talk to users about their needs and reactions to the product.

Lots of ideas and solutions came to mind in the process of sketching; ultimately, I chose to focus on two sub-sections for the project, the new user registration and the application to give and request a service.

I ran user tests with four users from different backgrounds and ages and found the discussion around the sketches extremely useful: All my test users were eventually satisfied with the app, after I incorporated their feedback.

Eat24 PROJECT

My next project involved the redesign of Eat24, a food delivery service powered by Yelp. I love food and that certainly helped : )

Personas

“Research is at the core of a User Centered Design process. User Centered Design is the application of thinking about the user’s point of view to solve a problem.”

In order to confirm and expand on the pre-defined user goals, I interviewed friends and colleagues that use food delivery services often, to understand their behaviours, needs and pain points. The following are the personas created based on these interviews.

App Navigation Scheme and Wireframe

In order to understand user needs and preferences about a website or an app, I asked five users to
participate in a card sorting activity using the Optimal Workshop tool.

Subsequently, I leveraged the intelligence from my user research to create a wireframe plan for first time users of the application;
“Lana downloaded the app and she is about to use it for the time, she doesn’t know what she wants to eat now, but she is hungry and wants to see what inspires her.”

Low-Fidelity Wireframe Sketches

High Fidelity Wireframes

Finally, I created the design of several pages of the app: The process of collecting and embedding all preparation and research into the final product was highly satisfying.
